School of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences (SPCS) is the first department of psychology in China to be ranked in the top 1% of ESI in the world. In the QS World University Rankings. The school established four departments - Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Department of Managerial and Social Psychology, Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, and Department of Developmental and Educational psychology, each department representing a major research area in the school.

The school is equipped with first-class research and teaching facilities. The school occupies a building with integrated research, teaching, and administrative facilities, and a laboratory building to conduct biological and Psychological teaching and experimental activities. The school has more than a thousand sets of equipment for teaching and scientific research. The long-term goal of the School of Psychological and Cognitive Sciences is to become one of the top psychology programs in the world, in both education and research.

SPCS currently has 74 full-time employees, including 46 faculty members, 11 staff members, and 17 postdoctoral fellows. The school maintains a tradition of excellence in education for both undergraduate and graduate programs and attracts the best young minds from all over China every year. There are currently 190 undergraduate students, 174 master students (102 in the master program of psychology and 72 in the master program of applied psychology), and 127 doctoral students in the school. 43 undergraduate students in Yuanpei College choose psychology as their major.
